The January, 2010 issue of the chamber’s monthly newsletter will be the last one that will be mailed “hard copy” to “all” chamber members. In order to save on rather significant and ever escalating printing and mailing costs AND to do our part in saving the world’s ecology by reducing our dependence on paper usage, the chamber has decided on a new newsletter delivery format.  Starting with the February, 2010 issue, chamber members with an email address will be receive it via a mass email blast or via the internet by logging on to the chamber website and view it there.  For those without internet access or an email address, the chamber will still mail those members a hard copy of the newsletter.

2010 Membership

We are all dealing with tough economic times, but it is important to renew your membership! Benefits include: inclusion in the membership directory that is distributed to local businesses, residents and community groups; receiving the monthly newsletter by email; linkage to the chamber website; inclusion in the Member-to-Member Discount and Welcome Packet programs; eligibility to participate in the Street Banner program and the annual Edgebrook Golf Outing and Summer Festival.  Dues must be received by January 31, 2010 to be included in the membership directory.  A renewal form can be downloaded from the Downloads section of the website.

Business Card Website Advertisements:

Take out a business card “website” advertisement for $100 for a calendar year and you will receive a FREE link to the chamber’s website!  Send your card to the Chamber by the 20^th of each month to be included.

Something new! Some of our local businesses participate in offering discounts to fellow Chamber members. You will receive a membership card this year for proof of membership. About Edgebrook

A Brief History

Edgebrook is a small residential area in the northwest corner of Chicago and is part of the City of Chicago. It is bordered on the north by the Village of Skokie, on the northeast by Lincolnwood and on the south by Elston Avenue.

The land where Edgebrook now stands was originally the hunting ground and home of the Potowatomi Indians.

Edgebrook still retains some independence from the City of Chicago and have a standard of homes well above the the median of the city. The business district is centered primarily along three blocks of Devon Avenue and the intersections of Central and Caldwell Avenues. Most of the businesses are either old family businesses which have been in Edgebrook for decades, or small shops owned and managed by one or two owners. The business area has retained a small town atmosphere with big town advantages.

The growth of the community has progressed gradually through the years because of responsive government operations with efficiency, progressiveness and an eye toward long range goals having to do with the unique character of the community.
