
The June, 2008 Chamber general meeting will be held on Thursday, June 5th, at 8:00 AM, at Edgebrook Bank, 6000 W. Touhy Avenue, (773) 594-2000. BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ MEETING
The next Board of Directors’ meeting will be held on Thursday, July 17th at 4:30 PM at the Edgebrook Public Library, 5331 W. Devon Avenue (312) 744-8313. Thanks to Katherine Panares for providing our meeting room.
NEW CHAMBER PARKING LOT POLICY
As you are aware, the Chamber rents the parking lot at the northeast corner of N. Central and W. Devon Avenues. The parking lot has always been intended for the exclusive use of patrons of Edgebrook businesses. Not business owners, their employees or METRA passengers. Public Notice is hereby duly given to members of the Chamber, other Edgebrook businesses and local residents, the Chamber has entered into a contract with Red’s Body Shop, Inc. to begin towing unauthorized cars from the parking lot.
Beginning Monday, June 16, 2008. (7:00 AM) unauthorized cars will be towed from the parking lot. A two-hour maximum parking limit will be strictly enforced between 7:00 AM and 9:00 PM each day (Sunday through Monday). Overnight park is strictly prohibited and cars found in the parking lot after 12:00 AM (midnight) will also be towed. Please adhere to the above parking lot restrictions noted above and do not have your car towed. Please respect other shoppers and their right to use the parking lot for their needs.
The Chamber would like to recognize Mr. Ron Brunelli (owner of the Chamber’s parking lot) for reducing the rent of the parking in recognizing of the tough economic times we are all experiencing. Thank you Mr. Brunelli for your kindness!
SIGNUP FOR THE BANNER PROGRAM
The Chamber’s Street Banner Program is going great guns and the first 16 banners have been hung! Applications are still being accepted. A Standard Banner is $300 and a Custom Banner is $350. The program includes a five-year maintenance program that covers: re-hanging, repair and replacement of your banner. A purchase form is included in this newsletter. 2008 WELCOME PACKET PROGRAM
The business response to the Chamber’s request for promotional items for the Welcome Packet program has been terrific! You drop them off at the Chamber office or bring them to any general meeting. This is just another FREE way the Chamber helps you to advertise your business.
STATE LANDSCAPING GRANT AWARDED
The State of Illinois (Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, DCEO) landscaping grant has been awarded to Greenlawn Landscaping, Inc. The Chamber’s Board of Directors approved the contract at their May 15, 2008 board meeting. A walk-through of the project locations has already been held and the project should commence on or before June 16, 2008. The Chamber would like to recognize and thank Jerome R. Butler of the Edgebrook Community Association for all his help and expertise in getting this project off the ground.
2008 EDGEBROOK GOLF OUTING
The Edgebrook Golf Outing will be held the Poplar Creek Golf Course, 1400 Poplar Creek Drive in Hoffman Estates, (847) 884-0219. The date for the golf outing is Wednesday, June 18, 2008, starting at 8:00 A.M. (“shotgun” format). Many special events have been planned. See the attached flyer for pricing. Please return the flyer with your check to the chamber office.
CITY OF CHICAGO LITTER NOTICE
Each year, the City of Chicago spends millions of dollars to clean-up litter. Refuse causes neighborhoods and business districts to look rundown and deteriorated. The City has implemented an aggressive anti-littering program and you can download it at: www.cityofchicago.org/streetsandsanitation.
AFTER-HOURS NETWORKING EVENTS
The Edgebrook, Lincolnwood , Sauganash and West Ridge Chambers of Commerce are co-hosting a business networking breakfast event at Lincolnwood Place (7000 N. McCormick Boulevard) on Wednesday June 4, 2008 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM. The cost is $6.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members. A flyer regarding this event is included in this newsletter.

EDGEBROOK FESTIVAL 2008
The dates for the Chamber’s annual Edgebrook Festival are set! Come join us on Saturday, July 26th (10:00 am to 10:00 pm) and Sunday July 27th (10:00 am to 8:00 pm)! All festival Activities will be located on N. Kinzua Ave. (east of the METRA tracks and north of W. Devon Ave.). The Chamber seeks sponsors & volunteers to support this event. The Festival will feature:
* 18-hours of live music from local bands
* A beer garden and six local food vendors
* An improved Kids Corner; and
* Dozens of artisans, crafters & local merchants.
