MAY, 2008 - GENERAL MEETING
The May, 2008 Chamber general meeting will be held on Thursday, May 1st, at 8:00 AM, at Myron & Phil Steak and Seafood, 3900 W. Devon Avenue, (847) 677-6663. The Chamber thanks Mark Freedman for hosting this meeting and Kate Gallagher from North Shore Community Bank for hosting our April meeting. If you want to host a meeting call the Chamber office at (773) 775-0378. Hosting a general meeting is a great method to increase the exposure of your business.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS' MEETING
The next Board of Directors' meeting will be held on Thursday, May 15th at 4:30 PM at the Edgebrook Public Library, 5331 W. Devon Avenue (312) 744-8313. Thanks to Katherine Panares for providing our meeting room.
CHAMBER PARKING LOT
The Chamber rents the parking lot at the northeast corner of N. Central and W. Devon Avenues and also pays for insurance and snow-removal. The parking lot is for the use of patrons of Edgebrook businesses, not business owners, their employees or METRA passengers. A 90-minute parking limit will be strictly enforced in 2008. To donate,

SIGNUP FOR THE BANNER PROGRAM
The Chamber is still accepting applications for the Street Banner Program. A Standard Banner costs $300 and a Custom Banner costs $350. The purchasing of a banner includes a five-year maintenance program that covers: re-hanging, repair and replacement of your banner. A purchase form has been included in this newsletter. 2008 WELCOME PACKET PROGRAM
The Chamber is running low on promotional items from businesses for the Welcome Packet program. These items are distribution to new residents of Edgebrook, Wildwood and Forest Glen. If you have promotional items, please drop them off at the Chamber office or bring them to any general meeting. This is a great way to advertise your business and it is another FREE Chamber service!
2008 EDGEBROOK GOLF OUTING
The Edgebrook Golf Outing will be held the Poplar Creek Golf Course, 1400 Poplar Creek Drive in Hoffman Estates, (847) 884-0219. The date for the golf outing is Wednesday, June 18, 2008, starting at 8:00 A.M. ("shotgun" format). The Chamber encourages you to have a day of fun in the sun! Many special events have been planned. See the attached flyer for pricing and other information. Please return your flyer with your check to the Chamber office. Please join in!
CHAMBER DIRECTORY COMING SOON!
The Chamber's annual membership directory is in the final stages of production and proofing. The Chamber would like to thank all that have supported the Chamber. Another great job by the members of our Directory Committee including: Jenise Celestin, Marilyn Henry, Harriet Luden, Geri Schnock, Elizabeth Ifkowitsch, Catherine Janus, and of course, Pauline "Bulldog" Von Schmittou.
AFTER-HOURS NETWORKING EVENTS
The Edgebrook, Lincolnwood and Sauganash Chambers of Commerce are co-hosting another after-hours business networking event, this time at Lincolnwood Place (7000 N. McCormick Boulevard) on Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 5:30 - 7:30 PM. This event is FREE of charge to dues paying members. Non-members pay $15.
The Edgebrook, Lincolnwood , Sauganash and West Ridge Chambers of Commerce are co-hosting an after-hours business networking event at Lincolnwood Place (7000 N. McCormick Boulevard) on Wednesday June 4, 2008 from 8:00 to 9:30 AM. This event costs $6.00 for members and $10.00 for non-members. This special breakfast event will feature guest speaker Jim Mattei of Total Sellind Solutions who will present the program entitled "Networking Simplified." A flyer regarding this event is included in this newsletter.
CITY OF CHICAGO LITTER NOTICE
Each year, the City of Chicago spends millions of dollars to clean-up litter. Refuse causes neighborhoods and business districts to look rundown and deteriorated. The City has implemented an aggressive anti-littering program and you can download it at: www.cityofchicago.org/streetsandsanitation.

EDGEBROOK FESTIVAL 2008
The dates for the Chamber's annual Edgebrook Festival are set! Come join us on Saturday, July 26th (10:00am to 10:00pm) and Sunday July 27th (10:00am to 8:00 pm)! All festival
will be located on N. Kinzua Ave. (east of the METRA tracks and north of W. Devon Ave.). The Chamber seeks sponsors & volunteers to support this event.
The Festival will feature:
* 18-hours of live music from local bands
* A beer garden and numerous local food vendors
* A Kids Corner; and
* Dozens of artisans, crafters & local merchants.
EDGEBROOK LIBRARY PROGRAMS
The Edgebrook Pubilc Library has a fun Mother's Day program scheduled for May 3, 2008 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM. The program features a story and a handmade gift that children (ages 5 -10) can take home to mom. All children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
GRAFFITI ALERT
The Chicago Police Department's 16th District is developing a Graffiti Database. If you observe any graffiti, take a picture of the graffiti location, call 311 to have the grafitti removed and email the photos to grafitti16@yahoo.com or drop them off at their headquarters (5151 N. Milwaukee Avenue).
ECA AND SWAP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
In conjunction with Mayor Daley's Clean and Green Day, the Edgebrook Community Association (ECA) invites community residents to participate in their cleanup effort on May 17, 2008. (starting at 10:00am). Those interested should assemble in the East Metra parking lot with gloves, rakes, shovels and lots of energy. Please call Mary Jo Garnier at (773) 775-4065 with any questions. The chamber and Cook County's SWAP Program will be cleaning up Edgebrook and volunteers are needed. The chamber will pop for coffee & pastries!
